Redeemer Lutheran College is offering up to ten scholarships for Year 8 students in 2013.

  • Academic Scholarships: Up to five Academic Scholarships at 50% of the Year 8 tuition fee will be available for academically gifted students on the basis of reports and assessment.
  • All Rounder Scholarships: Up to five All Rounder Scholarships at 50% of the Year 8 tuition fee will be available to students able to contribute to at least two major areas of college life.


Scholarship Application Requirements

If you are interested in having your child sit for a scholarship for Year 8 in 2013, please register by following the procedures outlined below, Registrations open Saturday 4 February 2012 and close Sunday 13 May 2012. Registrations received after this date will incur a late fee.


Details of Testing

The scholarship examination will be held on Saturday 19 May 2012 at Redeemer Lutheran College, commencing at 2.00pm in Redeemer Chapel, and finishing at approximately 4.30pm. The scholarship application fee is $65. You only need to register once. Each new application to the college must be accompanied by an enrolment application. (The enrolment application fee is $150, and the scholarship testing fee is $65). Total Scholarship Application cost is $215 (if you are not already on the waitlist or currently enrolled at the college).


Procedures to Register

  2. [Step 2 - Click Here] - (Only if you are NOT a current student of Redeemer Lutheran College or are currently on the accepted or waitlist for 2013). This will download Redeemer Lutheran College’s application for enrolment EduTest Scholarship Testing (Word Document).  Fill in the application answering every question, and ensure that the application is signed by both parents.  Scan and email the completed application form to enrolments@redeemer.com.au, or fax to (07) 3340 8800. 


Level 1 - Designed for students in their final year of primary school during 2012, for entry into first year of secondary school (entry into Year 7 in NSW, ACT, Tas and Vic or entry into Year 8 in QLD, SA and WA) in 2013.


Eligibility:

  1. Applicants must attend the Year 9 Outdoor Education Program for the full duration of the program (4 weeks).
  2. New applicants must complete an application for enrolment to be signed by both parents/guardians prior to the interview stage.
  3. Applicant must be an Australian Resident.


Conditions for Both Scholarship Categories:

  1. Written applications responding to the following criteria are required:
    a. Academic criteria (all points)
    b. General All Rounder criteria (all points)
  2. Online registration through EduTest and Scholarship testing is compulsory.
  3. Successful applications will be determined via an interview with the Principal.
  4. The defining expectation is that successful applicants will give their very best to all their endeavours while at Redeemer Lutheran College.
  5. Redeemer Lutheran College reserves the right to review the scholarships annually, typically undertaken through an interview(s) and/or reports requested by the Principal from relevant staff.
  6. The scholarship may be forfeited as a consequence of poor behaviour and/or poor attitude including poor or nil participation in the college’s co-curricular programs.
  7. Copies of reports must be included withyour written application for scholarship, even if you are a current Redeemer family. Non-inclusion of reports will result in the application being rejected.


Academic Scholarships: Successful applicants will:

(i) Be supportive of the Christian values of the college.
(ii) Possess an excellent behavioural record.
(iii) Achieve at a very good (high) academic achievement overall.
(iv) Achieve outstanding academic results on the EduTest or equivalent scholarship test.
(v) Be active in the co-curricular life of the college.
(vi) Have a character reference from a current teacher.


General All Rounder: Successful applicants will:
(i) Be supportive of the Christian values of the college.
(ii) Possess an excellent behavioural record.
(iii) Achieve good results on the EduTest or equivalent scholarship test.
(iv) Have performed at a high level and/or a high level of participation in school based co-curricular activities spanning the school year.
(v) Have a character reference from a current teacher.


Written Scholarship Application Guidelines

(i) Written application must be delivered to the school by 3.15pm on Friday 18 May 2012.
(ii) Applications must include a Scholarship Application Form for each Scholarship you are applying for and a covering letter why you are applying for this type of scholarship. Separate applications are required for each category. One application for both categories will not be accepted
(iii) Written applications must include all reports, certificates and acknowledgements that have been referenced in the application (even if you are a current Redeemer family).
(iv) Do not include originals, applications will not be returned.

Year 11 Scholarships:

Year 11 scholarships are tenable for the two years of study from Years 11-12, offer partial remission of fees to the value of $1,000 annually, and are available to new and current students of the college. Applications are to be submitted before 3.15pm on the last day of Term 3 in the student’s Year 10 year. Scholarships will be decided during the school holidays at the end of Term 3, winners will be notified in Term 4 of the student’s Year 10 year.

The following scholarships are offered:


Types of Year 11 Scholarship:

  • Academic Scholarships: Two of these available for academically gifted students on the basis of reports and assessment.
  • Cultural Scholarship: One of these available to a student able to contribute to the college’s cultural program in areas like music, drama, public speaking.
  • All Rounder Scholarship: One of these available to a student able to contribute at least two major areas of college life.


Conditions for Year 11 Scholarship Categories:

  • Cover letter to be attached referring to the particular scholarship you are applying for outlining reasons why you are applying for this type of scholarship and highlighting attributes relating to the scholarship you are applying for.
  • Separate application for each category.
  • Successful applications will be determined by the Head of Senior School with final approval by the Principal.
  • The defining expectation is that successful applicants will give their very best to all their endeavours whilst at Redeemer Lutheran College.
