Redeemer Celebrates the 500th Reformation

Last Friday in the chapel, we enjoyed a wonderful whole school worship service to acknowledge and celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. The service involved a lot of student input including items from the Senior Worship Band and Senior Singers. Our School Captains and Year 6 Leaders led us in prayer and student artwork and interviewing helped deliver the message. Mrs Stelzers address also importantly reminded all in attendance of why the Reformation is still relevant and indeed, why it is still worth celebrating today.

On Wednesday 18 October, Redeemer's Community Service Committee hosted its 'Sister Snips' fundraiser where close to thirty Year 12 girls cut off their ponytails for charity! Their hair will be used for wigs for cancer patients, online donations to 'Love Your Sister' and cash donations to 'Daughters of Cambodia'.

A small gathering of past College Admin staff from 1992 and representatives from the Lions Club, reunited at the front of the College Administration building for the opening of a time capsule scheduled to be opened on 28 February 2017. The time capsule was laid on the opening day of the College Administration building in 1992, and commemorates 75 years of service of Lions Club International, in the 100th year of Lions Club International, and the 25th Chapter Anniversary of the former Lions Club of Daisy Hill.

Today our group went rock climbing. It practiced our belaying and climbing skills. The rockface was 25m high. Two people on different ropes would climb up at the same time with our leaders making sure our harnesses and double figure 8 knots we had learned and tied ourselves, were safe.

Senior Finale Music Concert

​On Friday 28 October, the Senior School Finale Concert was held in the KCA. All the senior groups performed beautifully, with a number of show medley’s presented by our groups amidst the Gospel, World, Jazz and Classical repertoire. Voiceworx joined Chorale, Senior Strings joined the Senior Singers and the Fella’s belted out some sensational arrangements from the time-vault, as did the Flute Ensemble. The Stage Band played their repertoire which they then presented at MusicFest on the Saturday, where they took out the Silver award.

"Today was another exciting day at camp Tuchekoi. Rock climbing was our first big activity, as we were out there for half the day. The two cliff faces had different difficulties. Redeemer Launches an Enhanced Outdoor Education Program for Years 3-11

Redeemer has launched a redeveloped camping program which includes the Year 3 sleep-over and the Year 6 Canberra Tour. Apart from the announcement that three camps (Years 5, 8 and 9) will be moving to new camp sites from 2017, an overarching ‘scope and sequence’ explaining the purpose and learning outcomes for each camp / sleep-over / tour was presented. The scope and sequence is also linked to the national curriculum.

ReCykle is an event that has been held at Redeemer since 2006, aiming to raise awareness and funds for leprosy. Each House organises a team of cyclists, including one unfortunate teacher, and races on spin bikes against the other Houses in a blockbuster marathon of cycling.
