2018 Cambodia Service Learning Tour

During the upcoming September holidays, students and staff from Redeemer Lutheran College, LORDS, and Faith Lutheran College Redlands are travelling to Cambodia as part of a joint Service Learning Tour. The focus of this tour will be the development work of Life With Dignity (and in particular the programs that Australian Lutheran World Services support) in Cambodia; and the life culture and difficulties faced by the people of Cambodia.

From Redeemer Lutheran College: Chloe Dart, Jinho Jung-Cotton, Emma Marlow, Nicola Puttock, Jack Thurstun, Mr Geoff Logan and Miss Lauren Krenske

From LORDS: Kyle Steadman, Jenna Venter, Michelle Venter, Anita Robinson

From Faith Lutheran College Redlands: Helena Lambert

Leading the tour: Susan Hawke

The team will:

  • Meet villagers in their communities and hear their stories
  • Learn how others can help to bring people out of poverty and oppression
  • Experience the Cambodian culture and customs
  • Come face to face with the joy and the challenges of development
  • Be equipped and inspired to lead others in real service-learning action
  • Be ambassadors of Christ’s love

Senior School students can support the Team by:

  • Buying a can or chocolates during Thursday lunch breaks. All proceeds will go to Life With Dignity and their work in Cambodia. Cans- $2.00; Chocolates- 2 for $1.00
  • Sponsor a back pack – we are asking each home group to sponsor a back pack which will be taken to Cambodia and given to teachers who need resources. The cost to fill each backpack with paper, books, pens, pencils and much more is approximately $40 and anything over that will be donated to Life With Dignity.

We ask you to pray for the team as they prepare for the tour and as they travel during the holidays. Please pray for the safety of the team, for valuable learning experiences, for personal growth and learning and for the shared experience with the Cambodian people.
