2018 Top Achievers

At Redeemer, we continue to prepare well for QCS and OP’s for our Year 12 students’ who are our remaining cohort to graduate under this system. We are proud to announce that two of our students’ achieved an OP1 in 2018, Mikaela Logan and Olivia Wormwell with both young ladies being offered direct entry into a Bachelor of Medicinal Science.

Olivia has subsequently made the decision to accept a place at UQ to complete a dual degree in Law and Business and Mikaela will study Medicine at Griffith University. Additionally the College had five of its Year 12 cohort offered places into the Qld Conservatorium of Music, a testament of the high standard of both classroom and co-curricular music here at the College.

Redeemer has a proud track record of high academic achievements exceeding the state average and 2018 was no exception with:

  • 11% of our students achieving an OP1 or OP2. This is Redeemer’s highest percentage over the last 10 years. (State average is 7%).
  • 10 students have achieved an OP between 1 and 3. (2 x OP1, 5 x OP2, 3 x OP3).
  • One third of our students (33.3%) received an OP between 1 and 5 in 2018. (State average 22%)
  • 100% of Redeemer students were eligible in accessing an OP with no students excluded.  (Only 50% of students across the State are eligible).

While the majority of our students proceed directly to university, alternative pathways are also supported through TAFE with students and traineeships offered in the Senior Years. We acknowledges that the OP system is just one way for students to access their pathway in life. It is neither a measure of a person’s worth nor a guarantee of life success. We congratulate all of our graduating students from the class of 2018, and continue to ask God’s Blessings for their future journey in 2019 and beyond.
