Active School Travel Day is Coming - Friday 13 March!

Active Travel day, Friday at school will never be the same. From next Friday, 13 March, we are going to launch Redeemer as part of our Active School Travel program. Friday, 13 March begins with meeting at two designated spots. Come and meet us to travel to school with each other and your parents actively. This may include bike riding, scootering or walking. We are meeting at 7.50am and will walk, cycle or scooter to school at 7.55am. You can meet us at two of the below locations with your parents, and together we can actively travel to school.

  • Priestdale Road Dog Park
  • Rochedale Road - past the BP station, in the side pathway

When we arrive at school, we will provide our active travellers with a fruit snack to celebrate our first Active Travel day.

Each Friday will then be our designated Active Travel Day.

Active School Travel is one of the easiest ways to incorporate physical activity into everyday life for all children. Research shows that only 41% of Australian children are active for the recommended minimum of one hour every day.

We know that everyone is different, so there are many ways you can actively travel to school.  How could you actively travel?

  • Walk - Leave the car at home and walk your kids to school.  If you live too far away, drive part of the way and walk the rest.  We call that ‘Park and Stride’.
  • Cycle - Ride with your children to school. It is legal to ride on the footpath and remember always to have your helmet secured.
  • Scooter - It’s fun to scooter to school. Just like cycling, stick to the footpath and remember your helmet.
  • Public Transport - Public transport is easy once you know-how.  For bus, train and ferry timetables, visit .
  • Car Pool - Find a friend and carpool to school. It is an easy way to save money and time. Talk to other parents in your child’s class or at music and sport to see who is going your way.

So let’s get started on 13 March and remember that EVERY Friday at Redeemer is now Active Travel Day.
