Cricket Club 2020

2020 has been a challenging year, but we have managed to maintain strong participation with a total of 42 players (22 in Junior School and 20 in Senior School), which enabled us to field four teams (Under 10, Under 11 and BEARs competitions). Matches were played over nine Saturdays, ending on 5 December.

With the inability to share equipment due to COVID restrictions, the Cricket Supporters Group decided to give all Junior School players a Cricket Centre gift voucher to contribute towards purchasing their own equipment. The club also purchased a new bowling machine for Junior players at the College, which they have enjoyed using each week at training. In addition, the club paid for external coaches from the Nathan Reardon coaching team to work with the Senior players for a preseason day.

All players have been improving their cricket skills over the season and teams are performing well. There have been several standout individual performances from Senior School students, which include some unbeaten centuries and a few bowlers taking five wickets in a match.

The Under 11’s have continued to improve their skills each week and have been competitive in all their matches. The enthusiasm shown by all (including parents with their support) has made it a delight to be part of the team. The Under 10’s have also had a great season scoring over 100 runs in most games and securing their first win mid-season. An amazing achievement considering some players have never played before and many are only in Years 2 and 3!

Well done to all of our players for a great year of Cricket!
