FIRST Tech Challenge Dean’s List

Congratulations to Jayden Wood (Year 11), who has been recognised as one of the best and brightest talents in the international FIRST community, by being announced as a finalist for the FIRST Tech Challenge 2019-2020 Dean’s List.

The judging panel were impressed with Jayden's leadership and technical skills and his positive contribution to our team, and has invited him to the FIRST Championship in Houston, Texas, at which the 2020 Dean’s List Winners will be announced.

FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) is a worldwide competition in which teams are challenged to design, build, program, and operate robots to compete in a head-to-head challenge in an alliance format. Guided by adult coaches and mentors, students develop STEM skills and practice engineering principles, while realising the value of hard work, innovation, and working as a team.

The 2019-2020 competition had 1,400 teams with 30,000+ students from over 70 countries.

Redeemer entered this competition for the first time in 2019. Our FTC team were runner's up in the Queensland round, beating many more experienced teams, and then participated in the National finals in Sydney.

In an effort to recognise the leadership and dedication of FIRST’s most outstanding secondary school students, the contest sponsors an award for selected 10th and 11th grade students known as the FIRST Tech Challenge Dean’s List. These awards are limited, with only three Dean's List Finalist places for the whole of Australia.

For his work and leadership of our successful FTC campaign last year, our team nominated Jayden Wood for this award.

The judging panel were impressed with Jayden's leadership and technical skills and his positive contribution to our team. On Thursday 5 March, Jayden was announced as FIRST Tech Challenge 2019-2020 Dean’s List Finalist!

This means that Jayden has been recognised as one of the best and brightest talents in the international FIRST community and he has been invited to the FIRST Championship in Houston, Texas, at which the 2020 Dean’s List Winners will be announced.

Congratulations Jayden on such a prestigious achievement!
