Redeemer Celebrates 27th Annual Grandparents Day

Redeemer Lutheran College celebrated its 27th annual Grandparents Day last Friday 26 April with attendances of approximately 700 Grandparents and special friends attending across the day.

Grandparents Day has a special place in the heart of Redeemer, a tradition which has grown and flourished since Redeemer’s first Grandparents Day in 1992, when the College was just a secondary school for Years 8-12.

Grandparents came from far and wide, with some travelling from across Australia, and others as far away as South Africa! We were delighted to welcome back one great-grandparent aged 101, and another great-grandfather aged 94 for his first ever Grandparents Day!

The day commenced with a Senior School Music concert featuring stunning performances by Redeemer Voiceworx, Stage Band, The Fellas and Senior Singers. The highlight of the music concert for both the Senior School and Junior School, was no doubt the sneak peek performance from our 2019 college musical, 'Hello, Dolly!' Refreshments were provided by Redeemer’s Senior Hospitality students and a student-led tour around the school which featured a special preview of our new Year 7 classrooms in SD Block.

The finale for the day was the Junior School Music Concert, starring students from the Year 6 Band, Junior Choir and College Choristers. Our Junior School students faces beamed with joy as they had the delight of being able to show Grandparents their classrooms, playground, library and introduce them to their teacher and friends.

Grandparents Day is such a special day in the calendar for our extended College community, and we sincerely thank all who attended and contributed to this event. We look forward to seeing many of our Grandparents return again next year for our 28th annual Grandparents Day!
