Redeemer presented with Rotary Peace Pole

Each year, Redeemer Lutheran College is one of 3,000+ schools to visit Canberra, with one of the destinations being a tour through Lennox Gardens to the Canberra Rotary Peace Bell on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin. Upon return from our most Year 6 Canberra Tour, Redeemer was selected as one of only 100 schools in Australia to have our very own Rotary Peace Pole installed.

A special handover ceremony was held at the front of Nott’s Cottage in Redeemer’s Junior School this morning, where representatives from the Rotary Club of Logan presented Redeemer Lutheran College with our very own Rotary Peace Pole, number 10 of 100.

Peace Poles are planted with the Universal Peace Message “May Peace Prevail on Earth”. They symbolise our common wish for a World at Peace. They stand as a silent vigil for peace reminding us to think and act in the spirit of Peace. The Peace message is written in four languages one panel on each side of the Peace Pole. Your School is asked to nominate the other three languages to be featured on the Peace Pole.

The words of Laozi:

If there is to be Peace in the World, there must be Peace Between Nations. If there is to be Peace between nations there must be Peace Between Cities. If there must be Peace Between Cities, there must be Peace Between Neighbours. If there must be Peace Between Neighbours, there must be Peace in the home. If there must be in the home, there must be Peace in the heart.
