Trivia Night Raises $9,350 for Cambodian Village

On Saturday night 27 February, the Redeemer Multi-Purpose Centre hosted the annual Our Saviour Trivia Night. Thirty trivia teams pitted their wits against each other helping to raise $9,350 for the work of Australian Lutheran World Service (ALWS) in Cambodia. The funds raised will go towards the construction of a pre-school building and a community pond for a rural village.

Highlights of the night included amazing art work on the trivia tables (the winning table drawing the Cambodian jungle) and a hotly contested game of Heads and Tails. Table 20, ‘Lock it in Eddie’, won the night, taking home the inaugural Trivia Shield whilst ‘Google Eyes’ graciously took the wooden spoon.

Between trivia rounds, Redeemer Chaplain, Col Stiller, shared some of his experiences from his time in Cambodia. He retold a story of a family he’d met in Cambodia and the difference a simple micro loan had made in their life. The thing that made the greatest impression on Col was the empowerment program that ALWS runs in Cambodia.

Also in attendance was the 2016 Redeemer Cambodia Team. They joined with Our Saviour members working in the kitchen, serving sausages, washing glasses and cleaning up at the end. A big thank you for their valuable contribution.

Our Saviour would also like to thank Bunning’s Warehouse Underwood, Adorne and Tyson Stelzer for prize donations.

Overall it was a night of laughter and friendship, a few curly questions and, most importantly, funds raised to continue the essential work of ALWS. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year.
