An original children’s theatre production
Across 15-16 May, the Big Bad Wolf faced trial in an original production directed by our very own Head of Creative Arts, Mrs Kelly Redhead-Adelt, and pieced together in a collaboration by our staff and students.
Fusing together multiple fairytales we all know and love, students both on stage and behind the scenes brought to life this never-before-seen interpretation across three shows. Written by Mrs Kelly Redhead-Adelt and with original music by Craig Allister Young, the production showcased the skills of our students in the fields of costuming, set design, script writing, singing, dancing, and of course, acting.
“I absolutely loved being a part of The Trial of the Big Bad Wolf. The audience was so amazing during every show and all the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. It really was such a special, unforgettable, and inimitable experience.” – Huon Stelzer (Peter)
“It’s always such a great experience, making friends across the year levels and having lots of fun along the way.” – Cameron Blyth (Don the Donkey)
“The audience response has been incredible, and I have loved hearing all the little kids talk about their favourite parts and considering being part of future productions. I love inspiring them to perform, and by representing the Redeemer’s Creative Arts Department, I can do that.” – Emily Reid (Pigseena)
“Playing ‘The Dapper Mr Wolf’ was a great way to see out my last production at Redeemer. I chose to audition because I love drama, with children’s theatre in particular giving me the freedom to play, experiment, and have a lot of fun in the role. I know I’m really going to miss the community that made this whole production special.” – Zac Mason (Wolf)
And from the director, Mrs Kelly Redhead-Adelt: “I am blessed to work with incredibly dedicated and creative staff and students who have shared their varied talents to bring this production to life.”
It was also great to see our younger community become involved after the show with the opportunity to meet the cast! Such experiences are a wonderful way to build exposure to the creative arts at a young age.
