Celebrating our creative side!
The second annual ‘Creative Arts Week’ was an action-packed and fun-filled week for the Redeemer community. Celebrating all things creative, the week commenced with the annual Interhouse Pavement Art Competition with friendly but fierce rivalry evolving into spectacular art works.

The artists had a mere hour and a half to produce a finished work around the theme of ‘Foundations’. The students had a range of visual interpretations on the theme giving our guest adjudicator, Tanya Burkitt and our College Principal, Mr Darrin Schumacher a challenging job deciding winners. This year, the Creative Arts parent support group added to the fun of the day with a sausage sizzle. Results from the competition will be announced on assembly in coming weeks.
The remainder of the week involved a great range of activities for students and staff to be involved with. Tuesday featured the Short Film Festival of student films in the Innovation Hub Foyer. The free popcorn and quality films were topped off by the announcement that three Redeemer student films have been selected as finalists in the national Reelise Film Festival. Wednesday the Junior school students, Senior school students and staff went toe to toe in the first “Dancing Against the Staff” competition. Performing set choreography, each team performed with energy and their own flair, with the staff team narrowly taking out the trophy. Thursday saw the return of the Minty Fairy at the highly entertaining theatresport competition and drama games in the Multi-Purpose Centre (MPC) for Junior School at second break. The week wrapped up with Dancing on the IH Green with DJ Sam and a Disco in the MPC for the Prep to Year 2 students.
Congratulations to everyone who joined in and went outside their comfort zone to be just a little bit more creative!
