Redeemer's Founding Headmaster Turns 90
On Monday, 14 September, Redeemer's Senior School students and staff held a special service for the College's founding headmaster, Mr Robin Kleinschmidt OAM, who reached the impressive milestone of 90 years old over the weekend.
As Redeemer's founding Headmaster in 1980, Mr Kleinschmidt drew on his extensive experience in Lutheran education to establish the College and shape its early direction. What began with just 56 students and one classroom building has grown into the thriving school community we know today. There are over 1,200 students and an entire school campus that continues to evolve, with a new purpose built learning precinct for our Year 5 and 6 cohort on the way.
Mr Kleinschmidt retired in 2001 after twenty years of service to the College and has remained an integral pillar of our school community ever since.
To celebrate his birthday, Robin and his wife Noela were invited to a Senior School Chapel service. The celebration included a showcase of Christian dance by Junior School students and a service led by Principal Darrin Schumacher.
Drawing upon our 2026 theme of "Free to Flourish", Mr Schumacher reflected on the foundational seeds originally planted by Mr Kleinschmidt that have since grown into one of Queensland's top independent schools.

Mr Kleinschmidt and the pioneering families and staff who helped establish the College worked tirelessly to lay the foundations that continue to shape and strengthen Redeemer today.
