Elizabeth (Lizzie) Cooper (formerly Henderson, Redeemer Class 2010) is organising an incredibly special Brisbane-based art exhibition on Saturday 4 February at Coopers Plains.
The exhibition will be donating 25 percent of all proceeds to Mater Little Miracles. Lizzie’s beautiful baby girl came into the world for three weeks in November 2020. During that time, she was blessed by the love and care of the neonatal intensive care team at the Mater Hospital. The work of Mater Little Miracles is very close to Lizzie’s heart, which is why she is using this opportunity to support this beautiful organisation through her art.
Since leaving Redeemer in 2010, Lizzie started out her career as an allied health professional, working in a regional hospital for several years. In November 2020, her precious daughter was born prematurely, and they lost her three weeks later. Painting was one of the ways she managed to stay focused on the beauty there still was in the world around her, despite her little angel was no longer with them.
What is the reason behind the exhibition?
She said, ‘though our beautiful little Anna will never be far from my heart, God has bought so much good through her short life, including the opportunity for me to launch my career as an artist. I believe art really is a God-given gift to bring so much healing, as we allow our soul the space to breathe and express our deepest emotions. As such, I so value the opportunity to bring joy and peace and awe into the homes of my clients through my works, as well as share the experience of creative expression in my classes.”

As a College we are so proud of you Lizzie and your heart that continues to give back to those in need. From assisting those in need in Cambodia in 2010, to raising critical funds and awareness for Mater Little Miracles.
