Junior School Counsellor (permanent part-time term-time)

Redeemer Lutheran College is seeking an experienced Junior School Counsellor to take on this permanent part-time (30 hours per week), term-time position commencing January 2026. Days and hours of work will be negotiated with the successful candidate. The ideal candidate will hold (or be able to obtain) registration with the ACA or PACFA.
The counsellors at Redeemer Lutheran College are one part of a broader Pastoral team and also have the ability to work autonomously when needed. This team is inclusive of every employee that provides pastoral care to students and parents as part of their broader daily role. More specifically, a Redeemer counsellor is a member of a smaller Pastoral Practices management team inclusive of: Leadership Teams, Pastoral Care Leaders, Dean of Faith and Chaplain. In this team, authority to direct team members is held by the Principal and Head of Sub Schools.
Key skills and qualities of the ideal candidate:
- The capacity to assess and respond to students with diverse needs and liaise with appropriate support services and professionals
- Knowledge of interventions appropriate for children aged 5 years to 18 years
- Ability to collaborate with the college pastoral care team and teachers to manage and support student needs
- Ability to develop strong relationships with families in a bid to support student development
- A passion for working with students to affect positive change
- Be able to support the Christian Ethos of the College
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Appropriate administrative skills to meet the necessary standard of record keeping.
