2023 Captains look to the future

We are proud of our 2023 Captains and the influence they are having on our Redeemer community. Recently our Captains reflected on two questions for the Courier Mail. Their aspirations and goals for the year were published alongside other School Captains from around the region.

Timothy Bell

What made you want to become School Captain?

I wanted to give back to the school community which has served me so well and ensure everyone can flourish in the same fulfilling and rewarding environment I experienced.
What do you want to achieve as Captain?

I am committed to empowering the growth of the community by fostering authenticity and compassion.

Jemma Wernick

What made you want to become School Captain?

I was inspired to become a School Captain because I realised it was a chance to make a positive impact on the school community. I’ve been motivated by the service of previous Captains who created a great culture within our school.
What do you want to achieve as Captain?

As a Captain, I want to show all students that doing your best is enough and you don't need to be ‘the best’ to be accomplished.

Dominic Duval

What made you want to become School Captain?

One of the biggest influences on my grade 9 self was one of the school captains of 2020. He helped me become a better version of myself and was a really positive influence on me. I knew I wanted to be a positive role model for at least one other kid. To share the positive experience I had, and try and give that feeling to someone else.

What do you want to achieve as Captain?

As captain, I would love to be a face people can approach and connect with people in ways that make them feel valued. Ultimately, I believe that big elaborate projects are insignificant without personal conversations and connections. Engaging all in our tightly-knit community is definitely a major priority this year.

Cindy Lee

What made you want to become School Captain? I wanted to be a Captain so that I could make a difference by leading and making connections with people on a larger scale. So far, I’ve really enjoyed spending time with the Junior students and participating in multiple co-curricular activities.

What do you want to achieve as Captain? As a Captain I want to unify our P-12 College, empowering students across year levels from P-12 to foster connections.
