Alumnus Continues Earth Care

Since graduating, Redeemer’s 2021 Earth Care Captain, Joshua Laurenceson’s drive and passion for supporting environmental movements in his community have continued, as he steps into a position as a casual Depot Operator at Tomra, a “Containers for Change” recycling centre!

Josh works across various depots in Brisbane, including Salisbury, Tingalpa, West End, Seventeen Mile Rocks and Geebung. His duties include assisting customers to use the reverse vending machines, cleaning and maintaining the machines, processing bulk loads of containers in bag drops, moving and emptying bins and general cleaning, and he recognises how his final schooling years have helped to prepare him for this role.

“The skills I received from my VET courses in Construction (particularly Workplace Health and Safety) and Hospitality (particularly cleaning and customer service) were very relevant and helpful in gaining my new job. It was also beneficial that I could demonstrate a genuine interest in recycling by being Earth Care Captain.”

We admire Josh’s passion and his genuine care for the beautiful planet on which we live and wish him all the best with this new chapter!
