What a whirlwind start to the term it has been with the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang cast, crew and orchestra delivering four sensational performances at the Gardens Theatre QUT. If you missed the show – you missed something special, to quote one patron: “ if the task of theatre is to capture an audience and transport them into another world… then Bravo to the cast of Redeemer College… I witnessed something special”. The final two performances were acknowledged by enthusiastic standing ovations from the sold out audiences; an exhilarating moment for all those on stage, in the pit and behind the scenes. Perhaps one of the greatest cheers was delivered on closing night as the two dedicated crew members who skillfully powered Chitty itself, revealed themselves from under and behind the car. Here are just a few of the fantastic photos of the production.
Here's what some of our audience had to say:
- "Wow! What a spectacular production! So professional. The students were exceptional. I was blown away by the talent of the orchestra and cast. I was so impressed by the sets and costumes…. I laughed (lots)… I was moved. Amazing costumes, sets, orchestra, comedy, singing and “teamwork!!” - Katrina E
- "While those on stage were all definitely stars transfixing us from the moment the curtain rose, all the students and staff in this show are to be commended. From the opening music that created the mood, to the sets and costumes that held us mesmerised, this production was fantastic! Congratulations to the Redeemer community." - Suzanne B
- "It was so professional. Such confidence. No one slipped up. I'm still humming the tunes. What a wonderful experience for everyone involved." - Tanya B
- "So proud of these kids. The entire musical is performed solely by students. This is a magical feat to have the full singing cast and orchestra by students, and not be co- performed by staff or external musicians. Well done to these fantastic, enthusiastic and hard-working students. (And to the amazing adults that supported them all the way to performance. Big kudos to David Law for orchestrating the ENTIRE show so that the students can participate and perform as an orchestra!" - Amy M
- "We really do have some very talented pupils at Redeemer. Congratulations to everyone involved from those on stage, to those behind the scenes. As for the orchestra, well what can I say - brilliant!” - Esther B
